We are building a village!
We are building a village that brings together different fields of science.
Hundreds of people came together in a very short time for this story that started with one person's dream. First we called ourselves the Collective and started working to establish a Foundation. When the establishment of the Foundation took long, we founded the Sciences Association. Then in 2019, when the establishment of our Foundation was completed, we took the process even further.
The 'dream' father of the project was Alper. He first reached out to his youth friends from Izmir Science High School. Starting from February 2018, they reached out to friends from the same period. With this step, those working for the Village of Sciences multiplied a bit more.
However, there are many young people in the new generations who ask 'Why?', who are curious, and who question the given conditions. Young people who have remained distant to science can open a new door by satisfying their curiosity outside the school curriculum. It is necessary to offer them a chance. It is possible to show that being a scientist is not impossible and to explain that they can draw a path suitable for themselves.
We now know that if we believe and support each other, the Village of Sciences will turn into reality. The first step has been taken; in October 2019, Foça Municipality supported the idea and granted us the use of a 70-decare land for 29 years. The Village of Sciences has started to come to life, now it is up to all of us. Will you put a brick in our village too?
