"Personal Data Protection Law" Disclosure Notice

Within the scope of the compliance process with Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, published in the Official Gazette on 07.04.2016, the scope within which the personal data of the members, volunteers, donors, supporters, subscribers, and stakeholders of the Sciences Association may be processed in accordance with Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, in the capacity of Data Controller, is set forth below.

1) Identity of the data controller and, if applicable, its representative

According to KVKK, the data controller refers to natural or legal persons who determine the purposes and means of processing personal data and who are responsible for establishing and managing the data recording system. Pursuant to KVKK, the data controller is the Sciences Association.

2) Purposes for which personal data will be processed

Pursuant to Articles 4, 5, and 6 of KVKK, your personal data:

  • Compliance with the law and the rules of good faith
  • Being accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date
  • Processing for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes
  • Being relevant, limited, and proportionate to the purpose for which the personal data is processed
  • Retention for the period prescribed by the relevant legislation or necessary for the purpose for which they are processed

  • To provide better service to the members, volunteers, donors, supporters, subscribers, and stakeholders of the Sciences Association
  • To carry out the necessary work for the planning and execution of activities conducted by the Sciences Association and to manage the related processes
  • To plan and execute the activities necessary for presenting, recommending, promoting, and organizing events held by the Sciences Association to the relevant persons
  • To ensure the legal and technical security of the Sciences Association and the relevant persons who are in a business relationship with the Sciences Association

3) To whom and for what purposes the processed personal data may be transferred

Your collected personal data may be transferred to our business partners, suppliers, legally authorized public institutions, and legally authorized private institutions, in accordance with the fundamental principles stipulated by law and within the scope of the personal data processing conditions and purposes specified in Articles 8 and 9 of the Law.

4) Method and legal basis of personal data collection

Your personal data is collected through any verbal, written, or electronic medium, via membership forms or any other means, within the scope of the purposes and conditions specified in Articles 5 and 6 of KVKK and for the purposes set forth below.

  • To provide better service to the members, volunteers, donors, supporters, subscribers, and stakeholders of the Sciences Association
  • To carry out the necessary work for the planning and execution of activities conducted by the Sciences Association and to manage the related processes
  • To plan and execute the activities necessary for presenting, recommending, promoting, and organizing events held by the Sciences Association to the relevant persons
  • To ensure the legal and technical security of the Sciences Association and the relevant persons who are in a business relationship with the Sciences Association

5) Rights enumerated in Article 11 of the Law

Personal data subjects have the following rights pursuant to Article 11 of KVKK:

  • To learn whether personal data is being processed
  • To request information if personal data has been processed
  • To learn the purpose of processing personal data and whether they are used in accordance with their purpose
  • To know the third parties to whom personal data is transferred domestically or abroad
  • To request the rectification of personal data if it has been processed incompletely or inaccurately
  • To request the deletion or destruction of personal data within the framework of the conditions stipulated in Article 7 of KVKK
  • To request that the operations carried out pursuant to subparagraphs (d) and (e) be notified to the third parties to whom personal data has been transferred
  • To object to the occurrence of a result against the person by means of analysis of the processed data exclusively through automated systems
  • To claim compensation for damages in case of suffering damage due to the unlawful processing of personal data

6) Information required for the data subject to apply to us

The data subject shall submit their requests within the scope of the rights specified in Article 11 of the Law to the data controller in writing or by using a registered electronic mail (KEP) address, secure electronic signature, mobile signature, or the electronic mail address previously notified by the data subject to the data controller and registered in the data controller's system, or through software or an application developed for the purpose of the application.

The application must include:

  • Name, surname, and signature if the application is in writing
  • For citizens of the Republic of Turkey, the T.C. identification number; for foreigners, nationality, passport number, or identification number if available
  • Residential address or business address for notification purposes
  • Electronic mail address, telephone, and fax number for notification purposes, if available
  • Subject matter of the request
  • Information and documents relating to the matter shall be attached to the application.
  • In written applications, the date on which the document is served to the data controller or its representative is the date of application.
  • In applications made by other methods, the date on which the application reaches the data controller is the date of application.

In the event that an additional cost arises in the aforementioned transactions, this amount shall be charged to the applicant in accordance with the relevant legislation. The data subject may contact the Sciences Association at bilgi@bilimler.org for any questions and opinions regarding their personal data. Furthermore, if desired, they may request the deletion of their personal data from the database, the rectification of incompletely or inaccurately processed personal data, or the updating of such data in the event of any change in the processed personal data by contacting bilgi@bilimler.org.
